Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
